Das Projekt UATX und die Verblödung der US-Eliteuniversitäten
Mir schreibt ein Professor aus den USA zur Verblödung an den linken Elite-Unis:

zwei Anmerkungen, um ein bißchen Kontext zu geben, den Du vielleicht nicht hast.
Publikationen: an guten Unis weltweit in den Wirtschaftswissenschaften braucht man drei Paper, um promoviert/habilitiert zu werden. Eins davon sollte in einem Q1-Journal erscheinen. Eine meiner Doktorandinnen wartet gerade auf den Entscheid für ihr zweites Q1-Paper. Damit wird man dann Assistenzprof. Eine klassische Doktorarbeit schreibt nur der, der nicht in den akademischen Betrieb gehen will. Kommt auf die Uni drauf an, aber Faustregel ist, daß man dann jeweils 3 Q1-Journal-Paper braucht, um die nächsten Beförderungsschritte (Assoc./Full) zu nehmen. An Colleges wird alles genommen, was peer reviewed ist und in Deinem Fach zählen Konferenzpaper genauso wie Journal-Paper. Die Harvard Business School (kenne ich von Innen) hat ein interessantes System: drei Kategorien (A+ Journal-Paper, Praxis-Impact, Teaching Impact) in denen man Weltklasse sein muß, aber man kann eine wegdroppen. 12 Paper für Tenure/Assoc. Professorship ist in keinem Fach normal.
Kollektivismus bei Präsidenten und Dekanen ist komplett normal auch bis runter in die College-Ebene, aber die müssen halt die Geldgeber animieren. Die Tante in Harvard (hat ja nur Schund zu Blackness publiziert) ist Toast: Bill Ackman ist ja nur die laute Spitze des Eisbergs und viele andere Milliardäre ziehen sich gerade zurück. [Satz über die Finanzierung durch einen Sponsor weggelassen, weil identifizierend.] Und: Opus Dei hat mehrere Uni und eine Top-Ten Business School und die sind normal: kein Kollektivismus, höflich, leistungsorientiert und ganz bestimmt keine Gender-Scheiße.
Schau Dir mal die UATX an. Neues Projekt, brummt, und ist genau Dein Ding. Es wird eine Katharsis geben und danach wirds gut für Leute wie uns.

Ach, so. Die UATX hat kein Projekt, die UATX ist das Projekt.
The university was started by a group of higher education critics who believe traditional higher education has abandoned its commitment to open inquiry, free speech and civil discourse.
A new university in Austin that was launched two years ago to combat a perceived waning dedication to free speech and civil discourse at traditional universities is now accepting its first group of applicants to enroll in the fall of 2024.
Founders of the University of Austin announced Wednesday that the state has granted them the authority to award degrees, clearing a major hurdle to opening. School leaders also said they will offer the inaugural 100-student class full scholarships for the entirety of their four-year undergraduate program, using $200 million the school has raised in private donations since leaders announced plans to create the new liberal arts university in the Texas capital.
“This is an opportunity for students to not only go to a university but help us build the university or build the culture of the university, create the institution with us,” UATX President Pano Kanelos told The Texas Tribune. “We thought that there would be a wonderful way to reward them for being part of this project by offering these scholarships.”
Students will be admitted on a rolling basis until the school reaches its first 100 students, Kanelos said.
UATX’s mission is to create a “fiercely independent” school that offers an alternative to what founders see as a rise in “illiberalism” on college campuses.

Among the motivations behind establishing a university is a desire to leave old ones. Old in tooth, depraved, decayed, the assumption is that a new institution will return to original purposes on the pretext that these are truly radical. This, on the face of it, is the purpose of The University of Austin (UATX) – at least as originally advertised. “We’re done waiting for America’s universities to fix themselves,” came the words of a promotional video for the incipient body. “So we’re starting a new one.”
This is the sentiment of Pano Kanelos, who left his position as president of St. John’s College in Annapolis to, in his words, “build a university in Austin dedicated to the fearless pursuit of truth.” What riles Kanelos is the “gaping chasm between the promise and reality of higher education.” Harvard proclaims a dedication to veritas. Stanford students are told Die Luft der Freiheit weht: The wind of freedom blows. Nice to have such “soaring words” – but he is not convinced that the “pursuit of truth – once the central purpose of a university” is the “highest virtue”. Campus life is now characterised by “illiberalism”.

Ach, ich glaube, für mich ist das nichts mehr, dafür bin ich langsam zu alt. Ich habe keine allzu große Lust mehr, mich noch in Hörsäle zu stellen und mit Studies und Professoren rumzuschlagen. Aus der Hochschulinformatik bin ich ja nun auch schon 25 Jahre raus, und Industrieinformatik ist eben doch was anderes.
Aber ich will es mal so sagen: Konferenzpapers durfte ich ja damals nicht veröffentlichen, und als „durchgefallener“ Doktorand ist man sowieso erledigt (was ja auch das erklärte Ziel der Sabotage war).
Wenn nun aber die woke Verblödung der Universitäten ein neues Themen- und Fachgebiet wird, hätte ich ja einiges vorzuweisen und zu erzählen. Und da bekäme ich dann auf meine alten Tage schon Lust, Konferenzpapers zu schreiben und vorzutragen, was ich in den letzten 20 Jahren so erlebt und beobachtet habe. Material genug hätte ich. Und die Möglichkeit, mich jederzeit in den Flieger zu setzen und für ein paar Tage zu irgendeiner Konferenz zu düsen, habe ich ja nun auch.
Ich hätte gewaltig Lust dazu, auf internationalen Konferenzen vorzutragen, wie dumm, verlogen und korrupt es an deutschen Universitäten zugeht.
Dann bin ich halt nicht Informatiker sondern Korruptologe.
Vielleicht bekomme ich ja irgendwo eine Honorarprofessor im Fach Qualitätslosigkeit der deutschen Hochschulen.
Mal schauen, ob ich alter Mann und akademisch Ausgespuckter doch noch ein paar Papers hinbekomme. Die Alten, die nichts mehr riskieren und nichts mehr zu verlieren haben, gelten ja oft als die Gefährlichsten. 🙂
